In the recent years, many households and even business establishments have been using the wireless security cameras. There are plenty of reasons as to why various people make use of the wireless home security cameras.Do you trust the home security company who is responsible for the security of you, your family and your possessions? If the answer is no, it is time to seriously reevaluate your decision to continue employing this company as your home security provider.

If you do not already have a home security monitoring system, you might be completely unaware of the options that are available to you.Home Security systems have become increasingly common in private homes and business. If you’ve ever shopped for a home security system, then you know there are a wide variety of options that you can choose from. These systems range from do-it-yourself kits to complicated whole-house security networks that must be installed by professionals. With the crime rate rising, home security systems are becoming a valuable part of your home.

The equipment that makes vision home security possible works in one of two ways. One is through image enhancement and the other through thermal imaging. Image enhancement uses any available light and combines it with a lower spectrum of light that can only be seen by the naked eye; the result is that the viewer’s surroundings are illuminated. Thermal imaging on the other hand captures a higher spectrum of light in order to create illumination and emits light on objects that release heat. In effect, both methods allow you to ‘see’ in the dark…Home security monitoring can be extremely basic or widely complex. There are many features available for homeowners who want to make their home security monitoring system more advanced. Hopefully this article will help you to make a wise choice.

Article covering all aspects of home security. Includes planning a home security system, alarms, CCTV, and the latest developments in home security technology. You know what they say, if you want something done right, then do it yourself. Despite this being true in a lot of cases, in what regards home security, the saying might not be entirely accurate. The differences between do it yourself (DIY) home security systems and professionally installed and maintained home security systems is both financial and performance-wise.

There are several simple and low cost security measures that anyone can put in place around their home to greatly enhance their security. And usually it’s a good idea to put some of these common sense measures in place first when you give attention to home security. But after you have done all that you can to reduce the likelihood of someone breaking into your home otherwise, it’s a good idea to start seriously thinking about installing a home security system as well, especially if your budget will allow it.The increased demand for security systems among house owners of today are because of the multiple benefits they offer. All the user has to do is manipulate a few buttons and enter a security password to activate or deactivate the system.

Today, there are many options on the market for home security and as a consumer, you may be confused as to what is the best option for you and your home. Protecting your home and family from burglary and home invasion is your top priority and finding the best home security system that will accomplish that task is your goal. Fortunately, you have some guidance from security experts who have laid out what makes a great home security system and what you should consider for your home.

Security experts agree that superior home security systems will offer multiple layers of protection for your home using several different technologies that work together to protect your home and monitor it when the alarm system is armed. Coupled with the technology, security experts also agree that having live monitoring where a monitoring technician is watching your home security system from a centralized monitoring center can really make the difference in getting help to your location once the alarm sounds. Technology married with live human talent is a combination that is found in the superior home security systems and should be considered when you are in the market for a home security system.

The type of technology deployed can make a difference in the early detection of an intruder so your alarm sounds quickly and the monitor can spring into action to get help to your home fast. The best systems will offer multiple layers of protection that include door and window sensors and smart motion detectors which are connected to your main alarm system and will sound a high decibel alarm when your alarm system is armed and it is triggered by an intrusion. Someone trying to force a door open or breaking in a window is all that is needed to sound the alarm. If the high decibel alarm does not scare the person away, the monitor will already be on the case and the police will be on the way to investigate the alarm further.

Monitoring is what truly separates quality alarm systems from average ones. While the technical components of a home security system keep the home secure from burglars by sounding the alarm when there is a security breach, monitoring takes it one step further by alerting police to the situation at your home and dispatching help in any emergency so your family is safe and protected at all times. Monitoring is key to a superior alarm system because your home is covered by the monitoring center whether you are at home or not. This buys a lot of peace of mind, because when you are away from you home and an alarm sounds, police will be dispatched to your home and intruders can be caught in the act. You don’t have to be home for the home security system to be effective and you don’t have to rely on neighbors to hear your alarm and call for help.

Choosing a superior alarm system is an important decision and you should consider what security experts have said what makes up a good home security system for you and your family. Cutting edge technology backed by live monitoring is the best way to keep you home safe and secure whether you are at home or away. You have constant around the clock protection with a monitored home security system.

Many security experts have already noted the uptick in burglaries and have expressed the need for increased home security in these uncertain economic times. Homes that do not have a home security system are vulnerable to break ins and losing valuable property. They are also more likely to get broken into than homes with a home security system. With security experts expressing the need for increased home security, it is important to consider their recommendations for a fully monitored system with multiple layers of protection.

Probably one of the key factors in the uptick in burglaries is the current economic situation. Criminals have become more desperate and are becoming more brazen in their attempts to steal valuables from a home. While they were once content on casing out a home and waiting until people left for work, there are an increasing number of violent home invasions where families are often terrorized by the criminals and people often get hurt and traumatized. With these types of incidents occurring, it’s important to follow the advice of the security experts and have a home security system installed with a live monitoring component to protect yourself, your family and your valuables from criminals that will resort to desperate means to make off with your valuables.

A monitored home security system can make all the difference in the world between a successful and unsuccessful robbery. When you have a home security system with multiple layers of protection, the moment the alarm is triggered, a signal goes off in one of several monitoring control centers. The monitoring professional is trained to respond to alarms and will immediate try to reach the homeowner to establish that the alarm is valid. If the homeowner does not respond, or if the pre-determined password is not given correctly, the monitor will then dispatch police to your house to investigate the alarm further. Having live monitoring insures that you have coverage and protection whether you are at home or not. Monitoring ensures that police will arrive hopefully in time to apprehend the burglars before they have had the chance to make off with any of your valuables. The police can also arrive in a home invasion situation and put a stop to any terrorizing of the family and prevent any injuries.

With the need for home security becoming greater, it’s important to do your homework and really research the type of home security providers that are out there. You ideally want to go with a provider that is a market leader, who has done millions of installations and has multiple monitoring facilities so your home is covered at all times. Finding a good home security provider is key because you need reliable around the clock protection for your home and finding one with multiple monitoring centers is important so your service is never down due to issues at the monitoring center.

Home security systems can provide you with the protection you and your family need in these uncertain times. They are an investment in the protection of your home, property and family. So follow the advice of security experts and have a monitored home security system installed in your home today and have some peace of mind in knowing that your home is covered and protected around the clock.

Home security is on everyone’s minds these days, as we Americans are feeling more and more vulnerable in our homes, neighborhoods, cities, and even our country. Do what you can to secure your own little part of the world by increasing your home security.

Nowadays, deadbolts and a Doberman aren’t enough. Sophisticated criminals get past such home security measures, and violent criminals know how to bypass your basic home security. You have to fight to keep them out. Home Security Stores gives you the defenses and the weapons to protect your castle.

The Statistics

It may shock you to know that more than 40 percent of break-ins occur during the day, in broad daylight. Criminals know when you are away at work or school, and they take that chance to smash-n-grab. Secure your home 24 hours a day, seven days a week, because you never know when a criminal will strike.

Basic Home Security

Though basic home security may not be enough, it should not be ignored. Protecting your home starts with three basic home security measures: lock up, yard word, and light up.

1) Lock Up

Begin by installing sturdy locks on all your doors and windows. It may be tempting to leave the door unlocked when you are home, or to leave the window open on a hot night, but that is poor home security. Home security common sense requires you to remain vigilant at all times, and that includes properly securing yourself in your home.

2) Do Some Yard Work

Next, trim back bushes from lower windows. Criminals can easily hide in bushes and break in through windows. Trees provide problems as well, so cut tree limbs that create easy access to upper stories. The thought of someone scaling a tree to break into your home may seem implausible, but it happens. Total home security is a must, no matter how unlikely something seems to you.

3) Light Up

Finally, put the criminal in the spotlight—literally. Light up your property with motion sensor lights or flood lights that leave criminals nowhere to hide. Home security starts by making criminals NOT want to break into your home. Shedding some light on the matter may be enough to drive them away.

Three Best Home Security Options

But what if this criminal is particularly determined to get past your basic home security? Not to fear, because technological advances have made home security into a powerful art form.

Home Security Stores offer a wide variety of methods to protect your home and family. Home security can mean alarms, locks, motion sensors, safes, and personal safety devices.

Option 1: Alarms

When we hear the term home security, alarms are what we might think of first. Whether wired or wireless, home security alarm systems are a major deterrent for criminals. They monitor points of entry, such as doors and windows, or they monitor for motion when the home should be empty.

• Motion Sensor Home Security

Motion sensor home security monitors and detects when unauthorized motion occurs in what should be an empty home. Modern motion sensor home security can even distinguish between a pet and a criminal, making this method of home security even more effective and dependable. Install a motion sensor home security alarm system in your home and know you have no unwelcome guests.

• Window Break Home Security

Windows are a popular point of entry because they are made of breakable glass. But there are home security devices that can detect when that glass is broken, setting off an alarm and scaring away the intruder.

Option 2: Motion Sensor Floodlights

We’ve already suggested good lighting around the exterior of your home, but you can save some energy by installing home security motion sensor floodlights that only come on when motion is detected. Security professionals highly recommend floodlights as a criminal deterrent.

Option 3: Security Cameras

How about having your home guarded 24/7 by a watchful eye? Security cameras, which are popular with merchants and other businesses, are fast becoming popular home security devices as well. A home security camera system monitors and records activities going on anywhere around your house. You can monitor a live feed or secretly tape what’s going on when you are away from home. Cameras act as an excellent deterrent and are extremely useful in the prosecution of criminals. Home security cameras catch them in the act.

So Many More Options

You have many options in home security. Complete home security means securing your home from more than just intruders. Protect yourself and your family from a variety of emergencies with:

• Smoke Alarms
• Heat Sensors
• Fireproof Safes
• Freeze Alarms
• Temperature Sensors
• Water Alarms
• Water Sensors
• Carbon Monoxide Detectors
• Personal Safety Alarms
• Pepper Spray
• Animal Repellent
• Panic Buttons
• Guide Lights
• Voice Dialers
• Biometric Readers
• Wireless Intercoms

Home security is big business these days. Follow our simple guidelines and you’ll have peace of mind and comfort in your home.

A man’s home is his castle, as the saying goes. But homes today don’t normally feature ramparts, drawbridges, moats and six-foot thick stone walls to keep out unwanted visitors. Today, a home security alarm, and preferably a monitored home alarm system, is needed to ensure your home’s security. Not only does installing a home burglar alarm system improve the safety of your family and possessions, but it can also decrease your home insurance costs. The Top Ten Home Alarm and House Security Devices list highlights ten devices and features of home security alarm systems that can make your house a safer place.

The Top Ten 10 Home Security Alarm Items:

1. Smoke Detectors – Add another layer of protection to your home, especially when they are integrated into the home alarm system. Not only do smoke detectors indicate a fire and give you time to escape safely, but when included in a home security package, they automatically notify the managing company and the fire department. Some systems even integrate the power supply to the smoke detectors. That means you will not have to ever replace the batteries!

2. Back-Up Power Supply – Is important in maintaining home security even during a power outage, when the risk of break-ins and looting is increased. Your home alarm should be effective even when your power is not. The easiest to maintain back-up power supplies use standard size batteries. Look for a model that uses rechargeable batteries to lower your maintenance costs.

3. Master Control Panel – Is vital to any home alarm system. The heart of the home security alarm system, the master alarm control panel is typically installed on a wall in a location with easy access. The panel receives information from all other sensors and key pads, computes it, and transmits relevant information to the monitoring company. If you choose to arm the system from the panel when you leave the house, the master control panel also receives the disarm code when you return home. Some can even be disarmed by telephone!

4.Talking Devices – Make it easy for you to comprehend the status of your home security alarm and monitoring system and also make programming your alarm system simple and quick. Some security systems feature talking master control panels, key pads or remotes.

5. Installation, Monitoring, and Repair Services – These services increase not only the level of safety but the convenience of keeping your home safe. A house alarm alone cannot notify the police or fire department in the event of an emergency. The most complete systems include buttons to notify police departments, fire departments and medical help instantly. Another advantage offered by the best monitoring companies is live customer support and full service installation and repair of the system by employees who have been background checked, licensed and drug tested to ensure your safety. Finally, some companies even offer relocation services to keep you secure even when you move.

6. Wireless Systems – Safeguard your residence without adding excessive wires which may create a tripping hazard or require professional installation of behind the wall alarm cable. In wireless home security alarm system magnetic alarm contacts, keypads and other devices transmit information to the master alarm control panel using radio signals or through available previously installed wiring in your residence. A burglar will never be able to disarm the system by snipping the alarm cable. This ensures the system is fully integrated and monitoring all parts of your home without using up your outlets or creating an obstacle course of alarm cable for you.

7. Key Pads – May not always be enough to keep burglars out. Magnetic Alarm Sensors on Windows and Doors decrease the chance of a home invader entering undetected and are a vital component of a residential security alarm system. The degree of security protection is elevated when Security Alarm Motion Detectors are installed within the residence. The most sophisticated security motion detectors include a feature to ignore pets’ movement to avoid constantly setting the alarm off inadvertently.

8. Extra Key Pads – Are also important. Exterior mounted key pads can provide secure key less entry to your family. Some systems also offer remote control key pads which are lightweight and portable. A home alarm system that features a security code with a key pad increases the security of your home. A monitored system can also lock down entry after several repeated, failed attempts at entry which indicate a possible break-in attempt.

9. Yard Signs and House or Window Decals – Advertise your home’s protection. The Greenwich Study of Residential Security found that homes without alarms were 2.7 to 3.5 times more likely to be burglarized, and that the most effective deterrent was the alarm monitoring company’s yard sign (SIA Research Update, Security Industry Association, October 2001). Some choose to post the signs to deter possible break-ins without actually installing a home alarm system. While this effort will lower the odds of an attempted burglary, a yard sign alone cannot fully protect your home.

10. Extra Key Fobs and Remotes – Some home alarm systems include extras like Key Fobs and Remotes to control the system at a distance. Somewhat similar to a car’s key fob, home security key fobs include buttons to activate and deactivate the house alarm system. Some even include a “panic” button that activates the house alarm and alerts the proper authorities in the event of an emergency. Remote controls are similar and often larger. The features of remotes vary greatly and can include a full key pad, a talking feature and a panic button as well. The talking feature may not result in great conversation, but it will help you understand your system a little better.

Of course, this list is not comprehensive, and the needs of every home and homeowner are different.

We would all like peace of mind knowing that our homes are safe when leaving or on vacation. Unfortunately, the greatest number of ‘home intrusions” occurs when families are on vacation or away for longer periods. By installing a home security system, this dramatically reduces the chance of your home being robbed. Also, a home security system has other features such as options for calling your local fire or police department by just pushing one button. Elderly or small children in the household would benefit from this feature, as a live person would be available in any state of emergency without using the phone.

Home Security Systems may sound like a lot of work, especially when most families are constantly on the go. The key; is to locate the perfect system for you. Many Home Security companies offer choices that better fit your lifestyle and can choose what is most convenient for your household.

====================================================

A home security system isn’t just for citizens in high-crime areas. For suburban homes where the whole neighborhood seems to empty during the day, a security system may be a good choice. A home security system equipped with a good camera can do a lot for your house. You can use it to see who is at the door before you open it, you can also keep an eye on driveways to watch vehicles & equipment and most importantly, you can check on any trespassers. A home security system can save you money on your homeowner’s insurance costs.

====================================================

Here are the basic choices to choose from…

Simple Security; These options have less bells and whistles. The system may include motion sensors, sound detectors, and photocells. Individual window alarms could be set in place, do-it-yourself wireless systems, and timers that would turn on lights at a programmed time to create an illusion that someone is home.

Other options with the Simple Security would include; Interior alarms that monitor intrusions inside the home including, panic switches, noise detection, motion sensors, photoelectric beams (light beams that trigger when interrupted) and pressure mats (flat switches that trigger by footsteps). In addition to home security systems, adding dead bolts or “heavy-duty strike plates” can further help improve your home security. Outdoor motion detectors are sensor lights that also offer assistance in home security.

The last option would be a Perimeter Alarms, where any perimeter being violated will ring a bell, or siren scaring most burglars away.

When it comes to the security and safety of your property and family, there is never an exact cost to help consider which system, but always know that there is a solution for keeping your home safe from violators. Anything new takes a short time to adjust, and before long, it becomes systematic in your everyday living.

I too have a security system and I never think of it as a burden to punch in my code when I enter my home with my children, or any thought at all for that matter. I guess that is what we call that little peace of mind. My home security gives me the comfort I need just knowing that my family is safer.

Let’s face it, we live in a world moving toward increasing crime. When we think of people out in the world who have suffered fatality, or injury related to burglar, we often think, “This could never happen to me.” The fact is it can happen to you. It just hasn’t happen yet.

It is a fact that no one is excluded from the criminal’s intent to steal, harm, or take a life. Criminals do not think on the same terms as we do, therefore, we must take extra precautions to guard our family and home.

In addition to burglary, fires and carbon monoxide claims a life each day. According to statistics over 1000 person’s die from carbon monoxide poisoning. Another 10,000 persons fall injury to carbon monoxide poisoning and/or fire. Fires claim more lives than carbon monoxide, therefore adding a CO, (Carbon Monoxide Alarm) Smoke alarm, and a home security device to your home is not much to ask for compared to the lives you will save.

Vacation home security is now more important than ever. With rising unemployment, vandalism due to high scrap prices for copper, metals and aluminum, and longer times between visits due to high gas prices or airline fees.

While foreclosure rates remain high, even for vacation homes or second homes, criminals will be seeking crimes of opportunity.

Some of us turn to time-share properties as a more affordable alternative. Each of these two forms of vacation home ownership present unique home security issues.

If you own your own vacation home and live there either seasonally or on a weekend basis, you’re leaving your second home unoccupied for significant periods of time. You’re also establishing a pattern of occupancy that any savvy intruder can soon learn and use to his advantage. If you own a time-share property, you own a percentage of a vacation home. You’re sharing it with complete strangers who may or may not adhere to the same standards of security that you do. And, of course, you trust your time-share company to properly maintain and secure the property during those periods when nobody is staying there.

You may believe that merely applying the same safety practices you follow in your primary residence should be enough to protect your vacation home. But in fact, you need to go above and beyond the rituals of safety you’d observe in a home you live in on a more frequent basis. Homes that look unoccupied are easy targets. You’ve seen those homes with newspapers piled up outside or that appears pitch black at night when the rest of the neighborhood is lit. Consider the following guidelines for protecting your vacation home year-round:

Consider a GE Home Security System from your local Fortune Hi Tech Marketing representative. With FHTM and GE Home Security, it is now easier than ever to protect what means most to you. With customizable systems to meet your specific needs, keep your family, possessions and investments safe. GE is continually advancing new technologies that help homeowners monitor their properties, make schools safer, improve airline security, and more. Plus GE can integrate new security technologies with existing equipment and IT systems. Whether you need an entire system, or individual products, GE has the right technology to keep you safe.

Introduce yourself to your neighbors – particularly those who reside in your neighborhood year-round. Tell them what your schedule is, and ask them to keep an eye on things while you’re away. That doesn’t mean handing them a key, although you may wish to do so if you know and trust your neighbors well enough. And watching over your home doesn’t have to be a job to which you burden your neighbors; simply ask them to remain alert to your home’s appearance. Leave with your neighbors all of your contact numbers at your primary residence, so that they may contact you immediately in the event they spot suspicious activity. Give them verbal approval to contact the local police department in your absence, particularly if they spot suspicious activity and can’t reach you by phone.

Consider the personal items you’re leaving in your vacation home when it’s unoccupied. Anything expensive – including cars, computers, televisions, DVD players and stereo equipment – should be stored under lock and key while you’re away. Take photographs of all of your possessions in your second home, and store them in a safe at your primary residence for insurance purposes. Engrave your name on the back of your expensive electronic equipment.

If you own a timeshare property, find out from the management company exactly what kinds of security measures they have in place. This includes the policies to which maintenance staff are required to adhere. Find out if the management company replaces the locks on doors in the event that tenants lose a key.

For most homeowners, the acquisition of a vacation home is the culmination of years of hard work. That’s why you owe it to yourself and your family to obtain for your vacation home the most stringent standards of safety within your means.

With the GE Home Security lifetime replacement of parts warranty and state of the art UL listed technology, you can rest easy. The highest quality products, competitive pricing and up to 20% off of homeowner and vacation home insurance makes GE Home Security the leader in the industry. One button arming, pager features, door chimes and a 24 hour emergency button make around the clock peace of mind a reality. Let FHTM and GE Home Security give you the power to protect your family and your home.

Here are just a few of the reasons to trust your security with a GE Wireless Home Security System:

One Button Arming: You arm your wireless home security system by pushing a single button.

The Peacekeeper® wireless home security system comes with entry/exit delays at the doors you select, and you can also put these same doors and windows on instant alert with the push of a single button.

Pager Feature: The wireless home security system has a pager feature. Should your child not return from school at the proper time and turn off the system, the system can be programmed to page you.

24-hour Emergency Button: You have access to an emergency panic button that allows you to summon help 24 hours a day.

Battery Back-up: In the event of a power failure, your Command Station will automatically convert from AC to DC.

Door Chime: The wireless home security system will, at your request, act as a door chime. Should your child try to slip out a door unattended, the system will notify you?

Your security and the security of your guests is the most important concern, if you are considering a home or vacation home monitoring system, please contact your local Fortune Hi Tech Marketing Representative, a GE authorized dealer or visit this link to find a representative near you http://fhtmus.com/monaview.

We remember to lock doors before leaving the house. We also take care to keep our valuables inside a safe and lock it properly. We take all these precautionary measures to keep intruders away. However, there may arise some unfortunate situations when in spite of our best efforts we fail to prevent theft or burglaries.

This is why it is very important to consult an experienced locksmith to eliminate maximum risk factors. Locksmith Washington DC is one such service provider who have upgraded their services and products keeping in mind growing security threats. If you are thinking of changing existing lock key systems, then you can rely on their impenetrable deadbolts which are products of years of research and development. If you feel that the main door is not strong enough or has gone through lots of rough handling, then it is time to have a new and stronger door system. Washington based locksmiths offer these services too. Not only door locks but they help in selection of lock key solutions for windows, patios, safes, etc. In fact a time to time analysis of the home or office security is very important to ensure that all lock and keys are in perfect shape and can withstand any crisis.

Suppose you have moved into a new house. It is very important to re-key existing locks if you have shifted to a new residence. If the same locks are in use around your home which the last owner must have used too, then there lies the risk of multiple people owning keys to your house. The same holds true for office setups too. Locksmith Washington DC offers perfect and effective rekeying solutions.

If you are planning to build up the security system from scratch or just want to modify it, then start with an initial consultation with the locksmith. It is always advisable to initiate an early search for the right locksmith rather than running around trying to find the service provider at the last moment. To begin with, you can browse online to gather information about locksmiths from your areas of preference, e.g. if you are looking for locksmith based at Washington DC or nearby locality then search accordingly. Have a look at their background, areas of expertise, service clauses, emergency services, etc. Shortlist a few companies of your choice and ask for estimates from them, explaining your security requirements. If you are not very comfortable with online interaction then you can always request for a direct consultation with the company executive.

The benefit of going with a reputed locksmith is that they will offer suggestions matching your specific needs. Be it lock or door repair or designing the entire security, they make sure that you get the best of products and services. While doing so, they also keep your budget in mind. In fact, locksmiths from Washington DC make sure that you get high quality and latest security gadgets at reasonable prices.

Your roof is the greatest asset and first guard against the elements entering into your building. This includes wind water sunlight and heat. When you want to replace your roof or want to make some necessary repairs, you should call to roof services. Roof services provides you highest quality roofing installation and repair solutions for residential and commercial customers, roofing services provides you roof flashing repair, roof valley repair, tile roof repair, Commercial flat roof repairs, Ridge vent repair, Skylight repair, Professional Roof Repairs Done with Efficiency, Roof Replacement, Siding repair.

In a perfect world companies that advertise professional roofing services would give you exactly what you paid them to do. We have been called many times by home owners needing a roofing company that really knows what to do to fix problems left behind by an inexperienced roofer.

Unfortunately there are individuals that advertise roofing skills but they are little more than a handyman service. A highly skilled roofer does one thing only – take care of roof problems. We had a case where a customer nearly lost the entire ceiling of his upper floor loft because so much rain was leaking through the attic.

Every home needs a roof repair from time to time, but home owners in Northern Virginia (VA) often need to call upon roof repair companies for roof repairs due to extreme weather conditions in Fairfax County VA. Scheduling a roof inspection at least a couple times a year enables our team of experienced Fairfax VA and area roofers to catch roof leaks in the early stages before your home gets beat up with widespread water damage. Our roofers are accustomed to handling emergency roof repairs on the spot with a solution we guarantee.

When we inspected the roof, we discover the ridge vent had been installed without enough fasteners. You all know how the Virginia (VA) wind can blow. The ridge vent had been lifted almost totally off the roof by the wind, tearing up shingles from the entire length of the roof. Upon closer examination we saw it had been attached with only four screws – two on each end. It was unbelievable.

How the ceiling did not cave in we don’t know, because it was waterlogged to say the least. We removed the damaged shingles, fastened the ridge vent securely in place. After replacing the shingles we sealed everything so well we knew the roof would have to blow off before it would leak again. Make sure the company you call for roofing services know what it’s doing. You’ll save a great deal of aggravation.
