I agree, I also believe MAT, the most obvious meaning is related to religion as: why do not we sober truth, these references to Jesus and Mary / Marie. . . also the question: Why can not we sleep forever? I see this as a way, why should we worry about the afterlife rather than die at the end? Donno thts only 1 of my interpretations

I always thought this song breaks the belief systems like religion, that make you feel drunk and without substance. "Jesus / whisper something to Mary, but the past and the fact is used to religions" in progress. Believe what you want about this song, you will never have an answer
